Inquiry into Tourism

Evidence from Walkers are Welcome UK Network TOU 19

I am Secretary of Walkers are Welcome Towns Network UK http://www.walkersarewelcome.org.uk/.  We have twenty three member towns in Wales, in fact proportionately more in Wales than any other part of Britain.  All promote walking tourism.  We also have a number of towns in the Welsh borders.

Generally, those in the south appear to be receiving lots of support particularly in the Monmouthshire and Brecon Beacons areas but support in the north of Wales appears to be dwindling.

I will leave it to towns within Wales to send in their own information but I would add that support at district council level and national parks etc. makes a considerable difference.
